CONSULTANCY

Consultancy with Jie Pittman is designed to facilitate an understanding, collaboration, and trust between Indigenous and non-Indigenous families within the New South Wales Department of Education system. While providing a platform for cultural exchange and addressing education and Indigenous culture concerns, the consultation program aims to bridge the gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous families by fostering a deeper respect for each other’s perspectives, cultures, and experiences. Through facilitated discussions and interactions, participants can engage in open dialogue, share their stories, and build meaningful connections. By promoting mutual respect and empathy, the program seeks to cultivate a collaborative environment where Indigenous and non-Indigenous families feel valued and respected within the education system. Overall, the consultation model is designed to promote inclusivity, respect, and collaboration within the New South Wales Department of Education system. The ultimate goal is to build stronger relationships and partnerships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous families to benefit the school community.

AIMS & OBJECTIVES

  • Providing a Platform for Cultural Exchange and Learning: Promoting cultural exchange and learning is central to the consultation model. Indigenous and non-Indigenous families will have the chance to learn more about each other’s cultures, traditions, and histories through various activities such as the welcoming ceremony, meet and greet sessions, and informal interactions. By creating space for cultural sharing and celebration, the program encourages participants to embrace diversity and appreciate the richness of Indigenous culture within the broader community.

  • Addressing Concerns Regarding Education and Indigenous Culture: The consultation program acknowledges the importance of addressing concerns and challenges faced by Indigenous and non-Indigenous families in the education system. Through focused discussions and question-and-answer sessions, participants can voice their concerns, seek clarification on educational policies and practices, and engage with educators and cultural practitioners. By providing a supportive environment for dialogue and problem-solving, the program aims to identify and address barriers to educational access and success for Indigenous students while fostering a deeper appreciation and understanding of Indigenous culture among non-Indigenous families.
