The “Liven Deadly Program” is an immersive cultural practice initiative for New South Wales Department of Education students. Led by Jie Pittman, an esteemed figure in Indigenous culture, this program aims to facilitate a deeper understanding and appreciation of Sydney’s local Aboriginal traditions, dances, songs, and public ceremonies. Through engaging sessions, students will embark on a journey of cultural discovery and collaboration between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peers. The program’s culmination will feature an Indigenous-styled ceremony on the school oval (or hall during the wet weather season), inviting the entire school community to share in the experience. By welcoming the “Liven Deadly Program,” the New South Wales Department of Education aims to not only enrich Indigenous students’ understanding of Indigenous culture but also promote harmony and inclusivity within the school community and beyond.
The Liven Deadly program format is customisable, where each term can be focused on targets and outcomes specific to your school needs. We offer numerous options in each school term that align with the New South Wales Department of Education’s Indigenous-inclusive and Indigenous-specific events:
